The news of the death of Rodrigue Toussaint the superstar guitarist of Bossa Combo is the subject of the Konpa shows since this afternoon in Haiti.
Rodrigue died in his residence in Mahotière a suburb of Port-Au-Prince (Carrefour). His house suffered some serious damages during the earthquake and the artist in his last days were very sad for what happened to his country.
Rodrigue lived for sometimes in N.Y and he returned to Haiti where he taught music and made some musical arrangements for several artists.

I know some of you may not know much about the musician and music professor, but this is what Mario de Volcy (Bossa Combo's drummer who played for many years next to Rodrigue) told me in a conversation last night....
Rodrigue was the best musician of Bossa Combo, he was the go to guy when Bossa was putting the songs together. He could read and write music, and he made arrangements not only for the chords but for the horn section as well. Mario said that he will never forget the contribution of Rodrigue in the songs "Notre Dame" (Ti Gwav) and "Noel" among others.
The most amazing thing is the fact that when Ansy Dérose was invited to perform at a mega show in Puerto Rico, the organizers told him that he can travel with only one musician out of Haiti and Ansy's choice was: RODRIGUE TOUSSAINT.......
